An afternoon at Aigues Mortes

Today I went on a wee trip with Jean Paul (the School tour guide) to Aigues Mortes...The history in France is totally amazing and seems incredible that things can be that OLD. This fortification was built in the 13th Century. Yes, that old!
Apparently at some stage in the history of this fort  their was a battle between the Protestants and the Catholics, the Protestant were rounded up (much like the Jewish people) and the men were put on the old ships to row, the women were put into the jail (fort) with around 50 women per room. One woman was known to be in this fort in horrible conditions for over 30 years.  People really are quite horrible at times!

Jean Paul sang in this room. The acoustics  are amazing, bought a tear to my eye.
